“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
Mark and I have been many places this spring season ministering to couples in building godly marriages and changing lives for eternity with the gospel.
We started our season in February ministering to 2700 people on the “Love Like You Mean It” cruise. I have enclosed an e-mail FamilyLife received from a couple who were on the cruise the year before. This is just one of many who were impacted by the messages that were given!
The next week we were in Kansas City, KS. (700 in attendance) (6 salvations)
Two weeks later we were back in Kansas City. (600 in attendance) (5 salvations)
Next it was Branson, MO. (1014 in attendance!!) (52 salvations!!)
Finally there was Indianapolis, IN. (824 in attendance) (10 salvations)
We could tell you about so many exciting things that God is doing in the lives of these couples. This is just one of them.
It was in Branson during a break on Saturday afternoon. An older couple approached me and she was very upset. She said that they did not communicate and felt like she did not know him. They were believers and had been married for a while.
He said that it was hard for him and he agreed to spend their date night talking over dinner. They agreed to read scripture and pray together later in the evening.
I asked them to come see me the next day and let me know how things went and that Mark and I would be praying for them. It was so busy the next day
I did not get to talk to them. When I got home I sent them a note and this is what I received back.
“Thanks for your note. Sorry we never connected again, but I thought you’d like to know how our “Weekend to Remember” turned out.
God revealed to us the missing keys to our marriage. After watching and listening to how the speakers related to their mates we learned what normal and healthy was.
My eyes saw…how a normal couple respond and relate to each other sharing their emotions. I wasn’t crazy! And it is okay to be vulnerable.
His eyes saw…a mans communication to his wife and how intimacy looks and now there’s less silence.
We forgave each other and I’m not angry at him any longer because there’s already a difference in this stranger that I’ve been living with.
I’m really looking forward to knowing the husband I never knew.
So thank you for your part in sharing with us when we needed it most.
We’re signed up to be volunteers, so maybe our paths will cross again.”
We have one more getaway in Austin, TX. (June 9-11). Pray for hearts to be prepared for what they need to hear.
What a joy it is to be used by Him to help others and bring Him glory! Your partnership with us makes it possible.
