Last month we shared that Dennis Rainey announced to staff that David Robbins will succeed him later this fall as president and CEO of FamilyLife.
Now, I would like to share a little from our Staff Conference, Cru 17, at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. There were about 6,000 staff in attendance. It was so good to see friends we only see every two years!
The conference theme this year was, “With.” We are an organization of different ministries within Cru; full of people desiring to reach the world for Christ. We must first and foremost take the time to be With God, not just doing things for Him, but realizing unless He goes With us and before us, our labors are in vain. But we must also be people who are relationally focused and take time to connect not only With God but the people He has placed around us. We cannot share the life-changing good news of Jesus without being With People.
All four of the major areas Cru focuses on, (evangelism, partnership, ethnic diversity, and reaching the world for Christ), are relational. If there is difficulty in being With One Another, it complicates our ability to communicate to those who do not yet know Jesus.
So our focus was on seeing, acknowledging empowering, and honoring people of all ethnicities with our organization. Recognizing we can’t partner well if we are not connected With One Another. We can’t reach the world by strategy alone, we must be connected to the people of the world. The Great Commission is far greater than any individual calling and was never meant to be accomplished alone. We see God working in our world as we are With One Another, together for His Glory and His Purposes.
In 1 Thessalonians it says “Finally the, brethren, we request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us instruction as to how you ought to walk and please God just as you actually do walk, that you excel still more.”
On the home front: Our daughter, Krista, has been coaching girl’s homeschool volleyball for 16 years and thought her coaching career had ended with our granddaughter, Allissa, graduating from high school. God surprised her by opening the door to a great opportunity continuing to do what she loves, coaching and teaching life skills centered on Christ, to girls at a local private Christian school. Her three other children are attending there and Allissa lives and works in Little Rock.
Last week Mark and the rest of the planners met to learn how to use the new equipment for the getaways. They learned how to pack this equipment in their big equipment containers. A lot of work goes into making it possible for speakers to come and minister to so many people.
Last fiscal year (ended August 31) there were 86 events and 57,243 in attendance. One thousand four hundred and ninety eight people indicated they received Christ.
Mark and I will be in Delray Beach, FL, September 15-17. Pray for us to be used for His purpose to bring Him glory!
Enclosed is a fall getaway brochure and (if you have given $120 or more a year) a gift certificate to attend a “Weekend to Remember” of your choice for only $39 per person. This is one way we are able to thank you for your financial partnership that makes it possible for us to minister to couples.
Remember, this certificate is transferable to anyone you choose!
